AJ page for Deedee

Once again a short chat today... I finished another AJ in the Round Robin at milliande.ning.com. To my satisfaction I will mail Deedee's journal; her journal will continue it's world tour to the UK. Her theme is: Nature, Dreams and Visions.

Painting for my sister

Some weeks ago I started a painting for my sister. I am originally from Surinam (South America). Have I mentioned that already? So I will have to send this painting to Surinam. I am still working on the background and I suppose to make the painting as a page in my journal. It doesn't have to be exactly the same, but the theme is the same. To mention one difference: the background and the material. I am working on canvas, which measures 30 x 40 cm (11,8 x 15,7 inches). That makes the painting a bit larger than my Moleskine journal. The theme is Sisters. I miss her a lot and this is my way to tell her that. This is the journal page with the theme Sisters. I'll post a picture of the finished painting, of course:-)

Some old pages. Challenges, challenges .... they are to take, I guess. For me challenges are not easy; not at all, but they bring me somewhere. "Places" I never experienced. These "places" are in my inner. And in this inner a lot of things are possible. These challenges keep my mind off work. I work fulltime and I go to school two days in the week. The school starts at 16.00 o'clock. A lot is happening at work and these challenges open my eyes, make me live, create, enjoy.

What went on in my mind thinking I could draw the famous "Girl with the pearl earring". I don't know ... there is something in that painting, in the story of this girl (I watched the film once, but I don't know if it was the original...) that makes you wanna know her story. So I took the challenge and this is my project. I was a bit shocked that I succeeded and still have not added any colour:-(

Can I create more than girls faces? Appearantly, yes I can.

That was my chat for today. Hope you have a wonderful Sunday:-)

Journal page swap and finished painting

Hello dear friends,
Again a quiet Sunday. That gives me hours to play with paint, paper, glue, etc. I started to finish the chunky pages for the Circus is coming swap. I continued with the journal page swap for which monthly journal pages are to be made. The prompts of the month February are: "All you need is love - John Lennon and Cupid. Thought it would be easy, because one thing to use in both prompts are hearts. But that doesn't make a page yet.... I did not want to draw any face or Cupid and that was a challenge. I don't know why but I had the idea to make a page on which the paint is smeared out. Sound a bit strange? Now I just did my thing and of course I had some mistakes, but I totally love this page. Instead of a neat page I have a smeared page with the message under neat. Now I cross my fingers and hope that Deedee, for whom I made the pages, likes my messy page?!?! Let me know what you think☺

I also made a painting for my second daughter. It was finished in January this year. Love it!! She wanted a somewhat gothic painting. She is not gothic herself. The canvas measures 60 x 80 cm (23,6 x 31,4 inches). For me that is quite a large project. Now both of my daughters have a painting I made for them. The oldest didn't want such a large one, so she got a small painting. After seeing her sister's she pleads for a larger one. Should I? Help me on this one:))

For a postcrosser I created a postcard. She preferred handmade and that gives me another reason to play with paper and glue:-)) The image was painted a very long time ago and finally founds its spot.

Have a nice Sunday:-)
